Charity Status Awarded

The volunteers and community reps working to refurbish and renew Horden's community hall as a centre for regeneration and neighbourhood renewal have achieved charity status.

Horden Centennial Centre is the name of Horden's newest registered charity.  Being a charity will allow the group to lease the community hall later this year and then manage what will be Horden Centennial Centre in 2013.

Easington's Member of Parliament Grahame Morris has backed the project and agreed to become a trustee alongside other community leaders, local groups and residents.

There's a huge amount still to do to make this project a success - fundraising, meetings, organising events, marketing & promotions, volunteer work - if you think you could help in any way, big or small, please get in touch:

Call John on 0191 586 3083 or Michael on 0191 569 1507 or catch any of the trustees - the Hall is open every Wednesday morning for the HCRA Food Co-op, Durham County Credit Union and St Mary's Coffee Morning - just drop-in.
